PEOPLE’S JOURNEY: AIR
OHLONE & COASTAL MIWOK land
BAY AREA
Thank you to the East Bay Ohlone and Coast Miwok people who steward the land that holds us on this journey. The fourth section of our journey is in the AIR.
The seeds of our journey were planted in Tongva land (Pasadena, Los Angeles), considering EARTH and “community as shelter.” We followed the WATER to Yokut land (San Joaquin Valley) and the people who protect it. We learned from our comrades navigating flood and FIRE in Mutsun and Awaswas land (Central Coast).
We now offer the seeds of our journey to the wind of Ohlone and Coast Miwok land (Bay Area). The movements of of those who came before us have been readying the air — through redlined pollution, tear gas, and carceral walls — so that we can breathe in freedom.
How can we offer gratitude to air—to those who have loved and fought for this air before us—so that freedom may be every breath we breathe?
Find out more questions we explored in our AIR WALK Field Guide.
